Braiding Knowledges Canada 2025 Gathering
March 5-7, 2025
Canadian Museum of History, Gatineau, Quebec
Braiding Knowledges Canada (BKC) is honored to host its inaugural Gathering from March 5-7, 2025, at the beautiful Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec. This event will celebrate the braiding of Indigenous and Western knowledge systems, or "braiding knowledges", weaving together distinct ways of knowing.
It is also a moment to reflect on and celebrate our learnings and successes as the Canadian Mountain Network (CMN), and to embrace the future as BKC—marking the transition from one to the other and the celebration of that transformation.
This gathering will convene Indigenous organizations and communities, university researchers, government representatives, business and industry leaders, and not-for-profit partners to share and mobilize knowledge generated through Indigenous-led and co-led research initiatives.
Participants can anticipate dynamic keynote presentations, thought-provoking panel discussions, and opportunities to engage with diverse voices and perspectives throughout the gathering. Join us as we work together to create stronger, more inclusive pathways for knowledge sharing and decision-making.
Event Goals
- Foster connections among BKC’s community of research teams, collaborators, Indigenous organizations, and broader stakeholders to strengthen relationships and shared understanding.
- Reflect on and celebrate the transition from the CMN to BKC, highlighting the progress, successes, and innovations achieved through the braiding of Indigenous and Western knowledges.
- Highlight the importance of continuing this collaborative work to address challenges and opportunities related to environmental change in Canada and beyond.
- Inspire ongoing efforts and discussions that promote equitable, inclusive, and impactful knowledge sharing for better decision-making.
